Advanced Plant Tissue Culture & Micropropagation
Specialist Commercial Propagation, Conservation & Plant Biotechnology in Scotland
Specialist Plant Biotechnology
Our Expertise & Services
At In Vitro Microplants Ltd, we combine scientific expertise with commercial plant production. From specialist tissue culture and conservation propagation to research and acclimatisation, we develop tailored solutions for nurseries, plant breeders and conservation organisations.

Commercial Micropropagation
Clonal multiplication of valuable plant varieties, from initial feasibility studies to commercial production.

Conservation Propagation
Specialist propagation of rare, threatened and genetically valuable plants for conservation and restoration.

Research & Protocol Development
Developing species-specific tissue culture methods for challenging plants and commercial cultivars.

Rooting & Acclimatisation
Supporting the transition from in vitro cultures to rooted and established young nursery plants.
From Lab to Nursery
Flexible plant supply options tailored to your nursery's facilities and requirements.

In Vitro Plants
Microplants supplied in sealed culture vessels, allowing nurseries to manage rooting and acclimatisation using their own facilities and preferred timescales.
Ideal for: Nurseries equipped with fog chambers, mist propagation systems or propagation trays with humidity domes, and with experience handling in vitro plants.

Rooted Hybrid Trays
Rooted microplants supplied in specialist hybrid trays covered with perforated foil, ready for the next stage of acclimatisation.
Ideal for: Nurseries looking to reduce the work involved in rooting while retaining control over final acclimatisation and growing-on.

Acclimatised Plants
Rooted young plants gradually acclimatised in our controlled growing rooms and supplied in propagation trays for further growing-on.
Ideal for: Commercial nurseries and growers seeking established young plants requiring less specialist acclimatisation work before further growing-on.
Our Work in Action
Explore our work in commercial micropropagation, rare plant conservation and research into challenging woody species.

Science-Led Propagation Practical Results
We combine specialist tissue-culture expertise, controlled-environment production and practical nursery experience to develop propagation solutions for valuable and challenging plant species.
Tree Conservation with RBGE
In collaboration with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, we have undertaken specialist micropropagation of selected Scottish wych elm (Ulmus glabra) clones, supporting conservation and restoration efforts.
Our work includes culture establishment, clonal multiplication, rooting and acclimatisation, helping preserve valuable genetic material and produce young trees for future planting.

Saving Scotland's Rare Whitebeams
In collaboration with the National Trust for Scotland, we are developing specialist micropropagation methods for three rare Arran whitebeams: Hedlundia arranensis, H. pseudofennica and H. pseudomeinichii.
Our work focuses on culture establishment, shoot multiplication and acclimatisation, helping conserve valuable plant material and support the long-term survival of these threatened Scottish trees.
